📖 This Week's Story

Today we're going to learn about a wonderful parable Jesus told called 'The Talents.' In Jesus' time, a talent was a lot of money - like having a treasure chest full of gold coins! Jesus told us about a rich man who was going on a long journey. Before leaving, he called three of his servants and gave them talents to take care of. To the first servant, he gave five talents. To the second, he gave two talents. And to the third servant, he gave one talent. 'Take care of these while I'm away,' he said. The first servant was very excited! He worked hard and earned five more talents. The second servant also worked diligently and earned two more talents. But the third servant was afraid. Can anyone guess what he did with his one talent? He dug a hole in the ground and buried it! When the master returned, he was so happy with the first two servants. 'Well done!' he said. 'You were faithful with what I gave you. Now I'll give you even more responsibility!' But when the third servant gave back only the one talent he had buried, the master was disappointed. What do you think this parable teaches us about the gifts God gives us? Should we hide our talents or use them? In our Maronite tradition, we believe God gives each of us special gifts - maybe you're good at singing, helping others, or being kind. Just like the faithful servants, God wants us to use our talents to serve Him and help others. When we use our gifts well, God is pleased and gives us more opportunities to serve. Remember, children: God doesn't want us to hide the special abilities He's given us. He wants us to use them joyfully to make the world better and to show His love to everyone around us!
