Walking on Water

Today we're going to learn about one of Jesus's most amazing miracles - when He walked on water! This story shows us how powerful our Lord Jesus is. One evening, Jesus told His disciples to take their boat across the Sea of Galilee while He went up on a mountain to pray. The disciples were rowing hard because the wind was very strong and the waves were big. They were working so hard to move their boat forward! Late at night, something incredible happened. The disciples saw someone walking toward them - but wait! Can anyone tell me what's strange about someone walking toward a boat in the middle of a lake? That's right - they would be walking ON the water! It was Jesus! He was walking on top of the water as if it were solid ground. The disciples were amazed and a little frightened because they had never seen anything like this before. Peter, one of the disciples, was so excited that he asked Jesus, 'Lord, if that's really You, let me walk on water too!' Jesus said, 'Come on!' So Peter stepped out of the boat and began walking on the water toward Jesus. As long as Peter kept his eyes on Jesus, he could walk on the water too! But then Peter looked at the big waves and got scared. What do you think happened next? He began to sink! 'Help me, Lord!' Peter cried. Right away, Jesus reached out and caught him. When they got into the boat, the wind stopped blowing. All the disciples worshipped Jesus, saying, 'You truly are the Son of God!' Just like in our Maronite tradition teaches us, when we keep our faith strong and trust in Jesus completely, He can do amazing things in our lives. Even when things seem impossible, Jesus is always there to help us.
