📖 This Week's Story

Today we're going to learn about a beautiful story Jesus told called 'The Good Samaritan.' This story teaches us about loving our neighbors, especially during this holy season of Lent when we prepare our hearts for Easter. Jesus was teaching one day when someone asked Him, 'Who is my neighbor?' So Jesus told this story: A man was walking from Jerusalem to Jericho when robbers attacked him! They took his money and hurt him badly, leaving him on the side of the road. First, a priest walked by. Do you think he helped? No! He saw the hurt man but crossed to the other side of the road. Then a Levite, who worked in the temple, came by. Can anyone tell me what you think he did? That's right - he also walked away without helping! But then a Samaritan man came along. Now, Samaritans and Jews didn't usually like each other. But this Samaritan had a good heart! He saw the hurt man and felt sorry for him. He cleaned his wounds, put him on his own donkey, and took him to an inn. He even paid the innkeeper to take care of him! Jesus asked, 'Which of these three was a good neighbor?' The answer was clear - the Samaritan who showed mercy and kindness. In our Maronite tradition, we remember that Saint Maron himself cared for everyone who came to him, no matter where they were from. Just like the Good Samaritan, we are called to help anyone in need. What does this teach us? That our 'neighbor' is anyone who needs our help - even someone different from us! During Lent, let's be like the Good Samaritan and show God's love through our charity and kindness to everyone we meet.
