📖 This Week's Story

Today we're going to learn about the most wonderful day in all of history - the day Jesus rose from the dead! This is our beautiful feast of Pascha, when we celebrate that Jesus is alive forever. Three days after Jesus died on the cross, some women who loved Him very much went to visit His tomb early in the morning. They wanted to put sweet spices on His body to show their love. But when they got there, something amazing had happened! The big, heavy stone that covered the tomb entrance had been rolled away! Can anyone guess what the women found when they looked inside the tomb? That's right - the tomb was completely empty! Jesus' body wasn't there anymore. Instead, they saw a bright angel who told them wonderful news: 'Jesus is not here! He has risen from the dead, just like He promised!' The women were so excited and happy! They ran as fast as they could to tell Jesus' disciples. Soon, Jesus appeared to them alive and well. He showed them His hands and His side, and they knew it was really Him! In our Maronite tradition, we celebrate this glorious day of Pascha with great joy. We light candles, sing 'Christ is Risen!' and remember that death could not keep our Lord Jesus down. What do you think the disciples felt when they saw Jesus alive again? Jesus conquered death for all of us! Because He rose from the dead, we know that we will live with Him forever in heaven. The empty tomb reminds us that Jesus keeps all His promises, and His love for us is stronger than anything - even death! This is why Pascha is our most joyful celebration of the whole year.
