📖 This Week's Story

Today we're going to learn about two very special saints in our Maronite tradition: St. Peter and St. Paul! These two men were among Jesus's most important helpers, and our Church celebrates them together on June 29th. Let's start with St. Peter. His real name was Simon, and he was a fisherman. When Jesus called him, Peter left his nets and followed right away! Peter loved Jesus very much, but sometimes he made mistakes. One time, Peter was so excited about Jesus that he tried to walk on water! Can anyone tell me what happened? That's right - he started to sink, but Jesus saved him! Peter became the leader of the apostles, even though he once denied knowing Jesus when he was scared. But Jesus forgave him and gave him a very important job - to take care of the Church. Now, St. Paul was very different! His name used to be Saul, and at first, he didn't like Christians at all. But one day, while traveling to Damascus, Jesus appeared to him in a bright light! This changed Paul's whole life. He became one of Christianity's greatest teachers and traveled to many countries telling people about Jesus. What's amazing is that Peter, the simple fisherman, and Paul, the educated teacher, worked together to spread Jesus's message. In our Maronite Church, we remember that God can use anyone - whether they're simple like Peter or learned like Paul. Both saints faced many difficulties and were eventually martyred for their faith. They show us that following Jesus requires courage and dedication. The lesson from St. Peter and St. Paul is that God can use each of us, no matter who we are, to do wonderful things for Him and help others know His love!
