📖 This Week's Story

Today we're going to learn about a very special day when the Holy Spirit came to Jesus's friends! This story is called 'The Coming of the Holy Spirit' or 'حلول الروح القدس'. After Jesus went up to heaven, His disciples were all together in a room in Jerusalem. They were praying and waiting, just like Jesus had told them to do. There were about 120 people there - Mary, the mother of Jesus, and all the apostles. Sudenly, something amazing happened! They heard a sound like a strong wind blowing through the whole house. Can anyone tell me what sound the wind makes? That's right - whoooosh! Then they saw something that looked like flames of fire, but these flames didn't burn anyone. Instead, one flame came and rested on each person's head. The Holy Spirit filled all of them! They began to speak in different languages they had never learned before. People from many countries were visiting Jerusalem that day, and they were so surprised because they could understand the disciples speaking in their own languages! Peter stood up and told everyone about Jesus. He explained that this was the Holy Spirit that Jesus had promised to send. What do you think happened next? Three thousand people believed in Jesus that day and were baptized! In our Maronite tradition, we celebrate this special day called Pentecost. We remember that the Holy Spirit came to help the disciples be brave and tell everyone about Jesus's love. The beautiful message for us today is that the same Holy Spirit lives in our hearts too! When we are baptized and confirmed, the Holy Spirit helps us to be strong, loving, and brave, just like the first disciples. The Holy Spirit helps us share God's love with everyone we meet.
