📖 This Week's Story

Today we're going to learn about a very special day when Jesus' friends learned how to share their faith with everyone! This story is about Pentecost, when the Holy Spirit came to help the apostles tell the whole world about Jesus. After Jesus went up to heaven, His apostles were staying together in Jerusalem, praying and waiting just like Jesus had told them to do. They were in an upper room, feeling a little scared and unsure about what to do next. Then something amazing happened! Suddenly, there was a sound like a strong wind blowing through the house. Can anyone tell me what you think the apostles heard? That's right - a powerful wind! But even more wonderful, they saw what looked like little flames of fire appear above each person's head. This was the Holy Spirit coming to them! The Holy Spirit gave the apostles a very special gift. When they went outside and started talking about Jesus, something miraculous happened - everyone could understand them! There were people from many different countries in Jerusalem, and each person heard the apostles speaking in their own language. What do you think the people thought when they heard this? Peter stood up and told everyone about Jesus - how He died for us, rose from the dead, and loves each one of us. That day, three thousand people believed in Jesus and were baptized! In our Maronite tradition, we remember that the Holy Spirit helps us share our faith too. Just like the apostles, we can tell our friends and family about Jesus' love. We don't need to be afraid because the Holy Spirit is with us, helping us find the right words. Remember, children: the Holy Spirit helps us share God's love with everyone we meet, just like He helped the apostles on that first Pentecost day!
